Hello Tek,
This was great reading! We share similar views and Nepal is a replica of Guyana. You are obviously a great patriot by remaining in Nepal and working while others of your intelligence and skills may have opted for greener pastures.
We will continue to be in contact. Keep up the good work!!!

Hi Tim Clark,

Pardon me for this late reply to your comment.

It is really a pleasure to know that you had traveled to Bhojpur during the Peace Corps to and you intend to bring computers and internet connectivity to this district in the future.

You are definitely right when you say that the best educational resources required by the high schools in Bhojpur are computers with internet access.

Currently, as far as I know, the only possible way for delivering high speed internet access to the schools in Bhojpur are via Wireless links or Satellite links.

But a wireless link should be a better option compared to a satellite link due to the cost and operational factors provided that the line of sight and other factors are favorable.

The 2 most prominent providers of wireless technologies in Nepal are:

(1.) The wireless project started by the Magsaysay Award winner Mr. Mahabir Pun (http://www.nepalwireless.net/)
His organization has done some of the most outstanding wireless work in bringing internet access to the remotest parts of Nepal.

(2.) Another company having extensive wireless coverage and technical resources is the private ISP called Worldlink Communications Pvt Ltd (http://wlink.com.np/)
They have one of the largest wireless internet network deployed in Nepal.

Lastly but not the least, I want to convey that it is people like you who are the real heroes for Nepal.

I would love to work and collaborate with you one day in the future.

Thank you for this post and your work. It was very informative.
I lived in a hill village near Bhojpur nearly 40 years ago and taught high school for 2 years for the Peace Corps. I visited last year and am inspired by the many changes even my remote village has seen. I think the best educational resources the high school could get are computers and an internet connection. I am talking with school members about how to make that happen. I am trying to plan for bringing computers to the school and enabling the fastest internet connection possible. I would appreciate corresponding with others who are bringing internet technology to rural Nepal.

Sincerely, Tim Clark - tim@icelu.com

Hi Suman,

The price may vary from country to country.
For a 2 way SCPC dedicated circuit, a 1024/1024 kbps setup may cost you U.S.$ 3000-4000.

For a 1 way dedicated 1024 kbps SCPC (uplink) and a (1024-3072 kbps) burstable DVB (downlink) circuit, the price would be approximately U.S. $3000-3500.

What is the cost per GB or such when using VSAT?

I'm planning to set up a VSAT for the school I own. I don't know about the bandwidth prices. I wanted to know if this would be better or may be I can get a high speed broadband internet for my school.

Hi nepbabu,

Thanks for your feedback and thoughts. I really appreciate it and your sincerity.

As you said, everyone (including you and me) should start working on it together [the workers abroad, NRN, Nepali citizens] and have a sense of workmanship.

It does not matter where we are located in order to contribute to Nepal's overall development.

Long Live Nepal
